Announcements for Sunday, February 22nd

NEXT SUNDAY’S READINGS are Genesis 12:1-9, Romans 4:1-8, 13-17, and John 3:1-17.

CAN YOU HELP?  Simple Suppers begin this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., prior to our 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening service.  We would like to offer supper on Wednesdays throughout Lent, but VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to provide food and drinks.  Please add your name to the sign up sheet on the glass case if you are able to help.  There will NOT be Simple Suppers during Holy week.

YOUNG LIFE DINNER will be held at Classics V on March 19 beginning at 6:15 p.m.  A sign up sheet is available on the glass case.  There is no charge for the dinner, but donations to Young Life are appreciated.  Table(s) will be reserved for Grace members to sit together.  Please see Dick Crawford if you have questions.  All are welcome to attend.

CHOIR will rehearse in the balcony after worship today.  We will be singing during worship next Sunday.

SOCIAL MINISTRIES will meet after worship two weeks from today, on March 8.  Pizza is on the menu for lunch during the meeting.  New members are welcome to join the Board.

NEXT SUNDAY we will begin our annual collection ofTOILET TISSUE for Heart, Love, & Soul.  This is a necessity that is needed everyday.  Unfortunately, it cannot be purchased with SNAP benefit cards, making it one of the most requested and appreciated items by those in need.  Do you remember how you felt during the pandemic when it became difficult to find a roll to purchase?  Imagine living week to week not knowing if you can afford to purchase toilet tissue for your family.  If you would like to support this project, tables will be available throughout March for your donations.

TODAY is the last Sunday to donate to our February mission designated to support YOUNG LIFE, an international youth organization with local chapters.  At Young Life, responsible, caring Christian mentors work to bring teens to the knowledge of Christ.  We have several members that have participated as teens in Young Life activities, and Dick Crawford has been associated with Young Life for many years.  He would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding their mission and local work.  If you would like to support Young Life, place your mission envelope in the offering plate today, or donate by Saturday online by choosing “monthly mission”.

LENTEN SERVICE – FEBRUARY 25th @ 6:30PM

Why did Jesus have to come among us as a human being? Why didn’t He come as an angel or some other kind of being that is stronger and more powerful than us? While angels may be a source of endless fascination to the Christian and to the world, they have no power to save us. In this week’s sermon, we will hear why taking on the “robe of [our] human frame” was not only a good idea but also necessary for our salvation. Angels are wonderful, but they are not Jesus. He came as one of us so that He could redeem us as His own.
