NEXT SUNDAY’S READINGS are Exodus 17:1-7, and Romans 5:1-8, and John 4:5-26.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to help supply food and drinks for our Lenten Simple Suppers. There are still a number of openings. Please add your name to the sign up sheet on the glass case if you are able to help. There will NOT be Simple Suppers during Holy week.
ATTENDANCE SHEETS found in the bulletin assist us in making sure that all of our members are being cared for as needed. Please fill one out EACH WEEK and place it in the offering plate.
NEXT SUNDAY is the DEADLINE to sign up for the YOUNG LIFE DINNER to be held at Classics V on March 19 beginning at 6:15 p.m. A sign up sheet is available on the glass case. There is no charge for the dinner, but donations to Young Life are appreciated. Table(s) will be reserved for Grace members to sit together. Please see Dick Crawford if you have questions. All are welcome to attend.
CHOIR will rehearse in the balcony after worship today.
SOCIAL MINISTRIES will meet after worship next Sunday. Pizza is on the menu for lunch during the meeting. New members are welcome to join the Board, or just stay and see what we do.
TOILET TISSUE: Our annual project for Heart, Love, & Soul has begun. Toilet paper is a necessity that is needed everyday. Unfortunately, it cannot be purchased with SNAP benefit cards, making it one of the most requested and appreciated items by those in need. Do you remember how you felt during the pandemic when it became difficult to find a roll to purchase? Imagine living week to week not knowing if you can afford to purchase toilet tissue for your family. If you would like to support this project, tables will be available throughout March for your donations.
MARCH MISSION ENVELOPES are designated to support Samaritan Counseling. This is a local faith-based counseling service based out of St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. They offer counseling at several locations, including virtual counseling. Our donations will be used by Samaritan to help defray the cost for those in need of counseling that cannot afford their usual fee. Pastor Brese worked with Samaritan in the past, and Trish Andrews referred numerous patients to them during her career with excellent feedback. Both highly recommend this agency, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
MARCH BIRTHDAY LISTS have been posted in the narthex and at the parking lot entrance. Take a look at the list and be sure to wish your Grace friends a happy birthday.
UNIQUE SPRING GIFTS: Find a catalog of discounted CPH Easter items (and more!) at both entrances. If you place an order through Grace by Sunday, March 15, you pay no shipping. Have questions, find your CPH Resource Program manager, Lacey Bahr (716-525-5134).
ITEMS NEEDED: Bottles of water and individual snack packs for our Sunday School kids. Bring them in, labeled for Sunday School, and leave them on a table in the chapel. The kids will bring them downstairs. Thank you!
| LENTEN SERVICE – MARCH 4th @ 6:30PM |
God’s character, His nature, is self-giving love. Everything Jesus does, He does “for us.” This phrase will be introduced this week in the series hymn. Pro nobis, or “for us,” appears again and again in the series hymn. Jesus is baptized, fasts, is tempted, overcomes temptation, and, in doing so, begins His work of undoing the power of the devil (Mark 1:9–13). It is especially worth noting that because Jesus suffered when tempted, He can “help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:18). He not only helps us in our weakness, but His love for us extends all the way into the grave.
