GRACE LADIES next meeting is this Tuesday, November 18th beginning at 6PM. It is our annual Wine N’ Cheese and Show N’ Tell event. In celebration of our country’s 250th birthday, we suggest your show n’ tell be something OLD!! Try to wear or bring old clothing, old jewelry, or an old item to share. All Grace ladies and friends are welcome.
NEXT SUNDAY will make our first turkey and ham delivery to the local charities we partner with to help them provide free Thanksgiving meals for those in need in Niagara Falls. We will continue to accept donations until December 21, when we will make a second delivery to help with Christmas dinners. If you need help carrying your donation to the downstairs freezer, please ask an usher for assistance.
ALSO, NEXT SUNDAY will be the last Sunday to donate to our HARVEST FOOD COLLECTION. Your gifts will be delivered to St. Vincent de Paul food pantry on 11/29. Requests for assistance have risen quickly as the government shut-down affected programs that assist people in need. All non-perishable foods are appreciated. Thank you for helping your neighbors.
NOVEMBER MISSION ENVELOPES will benefit Niagara Falls Meals on Wheels. They are a non-profit group located in Niagara Falls that provides nutritious meals to our city’s residents who cannot shop for or cook their own meals. They DO NOT receive any government funding for the services they provide. Because of this, they are able to serve people who do not qualify for other programs and might otherwise slip through the cracks. If you would like to support Meals on Wheels, use your mission envelope during November or give online by choosing “monthly mission”.
CHRISTMAS CHILD: Potter’s Field ministers to children and teens in our city that come from families where parents are not able or not willing to care for them and are often absent in their lives. If you would like to “adopt” one of these children for Christmas and purchase gifts for them, please let Virginia Markel know before Thanksgiving. She will provide you with an individualized wish list for one of their children. You can purchase some or all of the items on their list (and more if desired), and return the wrapped gifts to Virginia. She will see that your purchases are returned to Potter’s Field in time for their Christmas party.
ADVENT SIMPLE SUPPERS: There is a sign-up sheet available on the glass case for volunteers that would like to provide food for Simple Suppers during Lent. Advent begins two weeks from today, and suppers will be held on 12/3, 12/10, and 12/17 if we have enough volunteers.
